About
“My best friend was my mother. She was deliberate, clever, patient, soothing, reasonable, dainty, subtle, indispensable, neat, and useful as a spider.”
Louise Bourgeois

For centuries, women artists have been unjustly denied the recognition they deserve simply because of their gender. To fully understand the history of domestic "crafts" like sewing, embroidery, mending, knitting, crochet, pottery, weaving, gardening, cooking, baking, singing, music, writing, and dancing, we must tell the stories of these women and illuminate how they have shaped society.
Founded by Manuela Wirth, The Forgotten Her Story seeks to restore these extraordinary women to their rightful place in history, shining a spotlight on their remarkable contributions. Our mission is to elevate their stories and illuminate the impact of their creativity, skill, and spirit and how they have shaped the world we live in.
